Melvin Kranzberg Professor in the History of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology
I’m the Melvin Kranzberg Professor in the History of Technology at Georgia Institute of Technology and a fellow and director of studies in the History and Philosophy of Science at Churchill College, University of Cambridge. My current research focuses on the history of efforts to understand and use crop diversity as a resource for agricultural development. I’m a historian, and I write and research the ways in which science and technology have shaped the environments we live in and the foods that we eat. I am the principal investigator of the project 'From Collection to Cultivation: Historical Perspectives on Crop Diversity and Food Security' which is supported by a Wellcome Trust Investigator Award. The team of researchers associated with this project will work together to create new accounts of where, how, and by whom contemporary crops are made.
