I’m an emeritus professor of social anthropology at the University of Cambridge.

I’ve been researching the peoples of inner Asia, which is broadly the middle of the huge continent of Asia, and I’ve looked at their economic and political systems in different countries there. Also, I’ve done quite a lot of work on religion.
