Stafford Lightman

Professor of Medicine, University of Bristol, UK
I’m Professor of Medicine at the University of Bristol, and I research how the brain affects the body’s hormones, and vice versa. I am a neuroendocrinologist and the Director of the Henry Wellcome Laboratories for Integrative Neuroscience and Endocrinology. My work focuses on the mechanisms through which the brain recognises environmental stress and disease, and the pathways it uses to initiate appropriate responses in physiological regulation and gene transcription.
