I am a Professor of Economics and Social Science, University of Cambridge, and I research inequality, poverty, education and religion.

I am a development economist and a Fellow of St Catherine’s College at Cambridge University. My work focuses on what we call ‘the economics of religion’, in which we apply economic methods to the study of religion. I also research applied microeconomics and economic demography throughout many countries, including Brazil, India and the UK.
