I joined Yale University as the Founding Director of the Digital Ethics Center and Professor in the Practice in the Cognitive Science Program. I was formerly the OII Professor of Philosophy and Ethics of Information at the University of Oxford.

I am a philosopher of a particular kind; my research concerns digital technologies and their impact on our ideas and our lives, on things like ethics, politics, knowledge and science. Nothing that pertains to the digital is alien to me, and I find philosophy helpful in every context where the digital at large is making a difference.
