Timothy Garton Ash

Professor of European Studies, University of Oxford
I’m Professor of European Studies at Oxford University and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. I’ve worked all my life on the contemporary history and politics of Europe. I’ve been particularly interested in the liberation of Eastern Europe from communism, the transition to democracy and the process of bringing Europe together, aspiring to the never completely realised dream of Europe, whole and free.
