I teach Modern Indian History and Global Political Thought at the University of Cambridge.

My primary focus of research is the political thought of modern India, particularly of the 20th century, and questions of violence, democracy and republicanism. I also have a long-standing interest in the history of the modern subject, as particularly seen from the history of psychoanalysis and psychiatry in India.
